Fantastic Quotes

"Young players need freedom of expression to develop as creative players...they should be encouraged to try skills without fear of failure."

Arsene Wenger

"Young kids should be taught how to play in every area of the pitch, not taught to play a specific role. They don't need to be taught a role because it is innate. Every player has a natural disposition towards one role or another but first they have to learn to play everywhere."

Quantity vs. Quality of Study
College study tips: Study tip #1
When it comes to studying, the quality of your study time is important if you want results.

For the sake of time, most people would rather spend less time and have a high quality study session, than waste more time with a low quality study session.

When your study time is low quality, you'll have to make up with quantity. You'll have to study more to get better results in College.

Would you rather spend more time studying, or less time? I think the answer is pretty easy!
A Quality Study Session Saves You Time

Save yourself time and make every second you are studying count.
Study in a study friendly location
College study tips: Study tip #2
In College and on campus there are plenty of places you could study. You could study outside, in your dorm room, in a friends room, or probably the best place of all, the library.

Remove yourself from a place of distraction and study in a place where you won't be interrupted.

What about studying in your room? Well, here's some reasons why you might not want to study in your room.

Watch What You Eat , Drink & Get Enough Sleep
College study tips: Study tip #3
Heavy eating, sugar and white flower can seriously hinder your ability to concentrate.

Ever notice how tired you feel after eating a huge meal? It's because a lot of our energy goes into digestion when we have a full stomach.

White flower, and sugar especially. While lots sugar may give you an energy boost for a bit, you're energy will most likely crash afterwards.

Water and sleep are extremely important for concentration. The brain is over 3/4ths water.

Being able to concentrate to the best of your ability is vital to effective studying in College.
Drink Water, Get Sleep, and Watch the Junk Food

For optimum concentration and better study sessions, get plenty of sleep, and water. Also, avoid heavy eating, sugar, and white flower.
Apply the SQ3R Method of Reading
College study tips: Study tip #4
What is the SQ3R strategy? SQ3R is an abbreviation of a five step reading method that can help you study better in College.

The SQ3R method is good to use when you need to study a chapter in a College textbook, or any other kind of reading.

The SQ3R Study Steps

1. Survey - Before you begin reading what you need to study, survey it. Skim through it, observe the headings, chapter titles. Don't read it, just try to get a feel of the layout and general idea of it.

2. Question - To better understand what the reading is about, ask yourself questions. By asking questions, it will help you get an idea of what the reading is all about, as well as make connections.

3. Read - Once you have surveyed and asked questions, read through it. Try to answer the questions you asked yourself earlier.

4. Recite - While you are reading, stop every now and then to recite what you have read in your own words. You can write it down, or say it out loud to yourself.

5. Review - After you are done reading and reciting, review everything. You can reread it again, or just go through it and review the main concepts presented in what you just read.

Use the SQ3R Method of Reading

Survey, question, read, recite, and review.

Hostage Drama

At least nine killed in hostage crisis

By Yahoo! Southeast Asia Editors – August 23rd, 2010

and Yahoo! Southeast Asia

(UPDATE 23) Philippine security forces stormed a bus full of Hong Kong tourists on Monday to end a dramatic hostage crisis that unfolded live on global television, leaving at least nine people and the gunman dead, reports indicate.

Hong Kong eventually issued its top-level black travel alert for the Philippines on Monday after Hong Kong tourists were killed in Manila in a bus hijack by an armed ex-policeman.

The Hong Kong government said it was “very disappointed” about the outcome of a dramatic hostage siege.

The day-long ordeal began when a disgruntled ex-policeman armed with an M-16 assault rifle hijacked the bus in Manila’s tourist district in a desperate bid to get his job back.

Negotiations broke down after nightfall when the gunman, a highly decorated former senior police inspector identified as Rolando Mendoza, began shooting the passengers, and commandos stormed the bus.

Police said Mendoza was shot dead by a sniper after he used his captives as “human shields” in the final moments of the 12-hour standoff.

“I shot two Chinese. I will finish them all if they do not stop,” Mendoza told a local radio station as the police assault was about to get underway.

“I can see a lot of SWAT (special weapons and tactics police) coming in. I know they will kill me. They should all leave because anytime I will do the same here.”

Ten of the Hong Kong tourists were confirmed killed, according to doctors at hospitals in Manila and the Hong Kong government, although exactly how they died was not immediately clear.

Seven tourists, including children, and two Filipinos were freed at various times throughout the day from the bus parked at Rizal Park, a popular tourist destination just a few blocks from police headquarters.

The Filipino bus driver jumped out of a window and escaped moments before police stormed the vehicle, with his escape and the rest of the crisis broadcast live on television.

Another four hostages were seen scrambling out of the bus after the siege ended, but the fate of the remaining Hong Kong tourists originally on board the bus remained unknown late on Monday.

The Hong Kong government issued its top-level black travel alert for the Philippines after the crisis ended, but said it was sending in two charter planes to Manila for the families of the hostages.

Police were unable to get inside the bus for more than an hour after negotiations broke down and they decided to storm it.

They encircled the bus, smashed its windows and fired at it, but Mendoza held them off by shooting back.

The crisis eventually ended when police threw tear gas inside the bus, and fired again.

“He used the tourists as human shields. But he panicked and retreated to the front of the bus. He was then met with a valley of gunfire,” the assault team’s leader, Superintendent Nelson Yabut told reporters afterwards.

“One of our snipers managed to shoot him in the head.”

Mendoza, 55, was honoured by police chiefs in 1986 as one of the top 10 officers in the country.

But he was discharged in 2008 for his alleged involvement in drug-related crimes and extortion, and he hijacked the bus in a desperate bid to clear his name, according to police.

“He wants to be reinstated in the service,” Manila district police chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay said early in the day.

Joseph Tung, executive director of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, said the tourists on the bus were aged between four and 72.

They were on a three-day tour with Hong Thai Travel and were scheduled to return to Hong Kong late Monday.

“A serious kidnap incident happened in the Philippines. Hong Kong residents should avoid all travel to the country,” a Hong Kong government spokesman said in a statement.

“Those who are already there should attend to their personal safety and exercise caution.”

Monday’s bus hijack recalled a similar hostage-taking in 2007, when a troubled civil engineer armed with a grenade took over a bus and held 30 children but freed them after a 10-hour standoff with police.

The 2007 drama took place near Manila city hall, just off Rizal Park.

Monday’s tragedy also added to a fast-growing number of attacks of foreigners in the Philippines.

Gunmen shot dead a South Korean man in a separate attack on Monday morning in another section of Manila. Police said the incidents were not related.

Last month, an American, a South African, a Briton and their Filipina partners were killed in spate of murder-robberies in Angeles City north of Manila. The alleged killer was arrested.

Bloggers Formula

A Simple Blogging Formula

Let’s go through the formula:
Step 1: Decide WHAT the Post Should DO for You

I write posts for several purposes:

* To get a call to action.
* To attract business.
* To promote someone else.
* To get links and bookmarks and reblogs.
* To get a conversation started.

But I don’t do all of those things in every post. I start each post with a plan of what I want it to do. This post? I want you to reblog, to link, to bookmark, etc. That’s all. No solid call to action. Just some more inbound links.
Step 2: How Can I Be Helpful?

Every post that gets real traction on my blog comes from the mindset of being helpful to others. Other sites report news. TechCrunch, Mashable, Perez Hilton. Those sites rely on you to want what’s new. In my case, I rely on you wanting tips and advice and ideas that you can use for yourself.

So, I write every post to answer how I can be helpful. You can pick what you want people to visit your site for, but if it’s news and repeat entertainment, I find that a harder game to be in.
Step 3: The Actual Writing

I start with a headline. Then, I realize quite often that my headline stinks, and I go back and write a new one.

I then find a picture on Flickr under their Creative Commons area, so that I can use it with the post (unless I have one of my own to use).

My first paragraph is always a personable lead-in, usually with a question, and usually setting up the post. I know that I only have about 30 words to get you into it, and I cherish those 30 words.

I write with lots of chunking on posts that I want you to bookmark and revisit. Chunking in this case means doing things like putting subheaders in there.

I then make sure that the post is brief, unless I want lots of bookmarks, and then I make the post much longer. Why? Because you bookmark things that go over 500 or so words.

I finish on whatever I want you to do: either a question, or a call to action.
Review My Last Few Weeks’ Posts

Every few days, I look at what I’ve been writing over the past few weeks to make sure I’m not doing any repeats or overkill, and/or that I’m not just writing self-serving posts all the time. This helps me figure out whether I’m giving you what you deserve.

I put some of this information into a calendar for editorial decision making. I find that helps me keep a better mix of my fresh ideas plus my planned ideas.
Repeat

If you’re not creating great stuff, then people move on. My goal is to have something of use to you (almost) every day. I bring more posts out, especially when others are on vacation.

Finally, with regards to all this, I work to keep the story fresh and give you a mix of storytelling about others and how-to for yourself. As my interests change and my focus changes, I try to make simple bridges for you to follow along. I lose a few people on the sharper turns, but I keep a lot of people, and gain new ones. It all works out.
Almost Forgot SEO

Oh, do you need to worry about your search engine optimization? I’m not especially versed in that, so I just use the Scribe SEO plugin (affiliate link). That way, if I need the post to rank better for something or other, the plugin helps me do the work. In my blog’s case, I don’t really care a lot about SEO. In client blogs, it matters a lot more.
Questions?

How else can I be helpful?

For us Filipinos

As a Filipino sometimes we are not proud being a Filipino. So, lets read and learn from this blog. I got it from Wilma Bullo.

some douche posted this meaning.

Filipino
people from an island located in southeast asia (not east asia) called philippines.

living here for more than 5 years..
i find that most filipinos are

1. lazy
(if you wanna get something done in this country
you gotta wait at least 2 weeks.. when you can get it
done in 3 days in the states.. -filipinos, come on it’s
true.. if you’ve never gone out of your country
well too bad)

2. filipinos think all the foreigners are rich

3. their language sounds annoying..
(tagal tagal mahal ko kang yang kayo nang)

4. filipino women are deserate to marry foreigners..
because the filipino men are too poor
they wanna get out of poverty through marrying
a rich foreigner (usually age of 60+ you can see a lot
of filipino young woman& white old grandpa couples
in the philippines)

5. filipinos think that the philippines is better than
indonesia or malaysia or other neighboring countries of
southeast asia when they’re all equally poor

6. they are like little kids. they just wanna hve fun
that’s why their country’s so poor

7. They think UP, which is apparently… the best
university in the philippines .. is one of the
top universities of the world. when in fact, its
rank is so low that its name is no where to be found
on the booklet of top 500 universities in the world
(a supplement to Time in 2002)

8. THEY ARE SHORT.
5’ is tall in this country.

9. they are noisy.
their babbling mouths never shut up.

10. filipinos are desperate american wanna bes
and they’re such copy cats they must copy everything
from the states like their tv shows and they wanna
have their children born in the states so that
they can be american citizens

11. their taglish or watever it’s called,
which is mixture of their language called tagalog
and english, is ANNOYING
don’t fuck our language up why do you must copy
everything from us just speak your damn language
don’t mix it with ours and make it sound hella
fucking irritating and annoying

12. their diet is meat and rice

Okay i see you think pacific islanders are better than asians
sorry if im not mistaken the philippines is one of the poorest countries in asia, i mean the world

and why are you so proud of having spanish blood?
does that make you feel superior or something?
oh maybe cuz pure filipino blood is so inferior
that you just wanna feel better about yourself by
embellishing your ignoble history of
3000 years of being enslaved by the spanish?

and hello, the pacific islanders?
your ancestors look like monkeys okay
they look like homosapiens with messed up teeth and
extraordinarily short height

well maybe it was lucky for the filipinos to have the spanish
enslave them they’re still ugly but not as ugly as
before

but someone else posted another meaning.

Filipinos are inhabitants of the Philippine Islands located in South-East Asia. First of all, we don’t say “homie”. And most of the people here are tan, not black. Where the prick did that come from? (Okay this part is not for qiuwpt).

1. WE ARE NOT LAZY. If we are lazy, how the hell do most countries need our nurses, engineers, and architects? My brother is a LICENSED engineer, my cousins are LICENSED nurses and engineers, and I, will be an engineer in 4 years. I mean, c’mon, we’re not going to get our diplomas if we were all born lazy people. ALL COUNTRIES HAVE THIS KIND OF PEOPLE. And it’s not the Filipinos who are lazy, it’s the fucking government so don’t blame all the Filipinos for not getting your driver’s license in two weeks instead of 3 days.

2. We don’t think that all foreigners are rich. We think that their countries itself are rich.

3. Maybe, you’re a slow learner that you’re not even able to learn Tagalog that’s why you called it annoying. Not to mention you’ve been living in the Philippines for FIVE YEARS and you couldn’t even cite a better example of our language. BOBO KA KASI. TANGA PA. TAGALOG ISN’T ANNOYING. YOU ARE ANNOYING.

4. I can’t think of a better way to explain this. Sure, you must’ve heard a lot about Filipina women marrying foreigners but they don’t usually marry them because they’re rich. It’s because they love them. Sure, some of the Filipinos are gold-diggers and we can’t deny that but it’s one way of showing that Filipinos USE their head to get out of poverty. And where did you see this 60+ AMERICAN DOMs with a young Filipina? Didn’t you even ask if they’re grandpas and granddaughters?

5. We think that we’re better than our neighboring countries usually, because they don’t speak English fluently, like I do now and pardon if our country belongs to the third world countries but I, sure, am richer than you.

6. We REALLY like having fun. Because we are not like those countries whose people work 24/7 and obliviously neglect their families (their husbands and kids) which often leads to divorce. Filipinos are very family-oriented people and broken families are rarely seen here.

7. Yes, UP wasn’t in the Top 500 universities of the world and IDK why the Chinese got one of the ranks instead when they even go here as exchange-students, not to mention Koreans.

8. MOST of us are short.

9. I don’t know where you are living but Filipinos know how to shut their mouths when NECESSARY. Maybe you’re living at the squater’s area. Every country has it.

10. HAHAHA. Desperate American wannabes? Yeah, we copy TV shows from the states but we BUY the copyrights. Dude, you definitely, are naive. Have you ever heard of a Kris Aquino who was invited to co-host in the American version of Deal or No Deal? And have you, yourself, been invited to that kind of show? In short—NO.

11. Tag-lish is just one of the ways Filipinos do fun. And even if they do it seriously, at least, they try to speak it or at least, know how to speak it although not fluently, unlike our neighboring countries whose natives even go here to learn your damn language. And my gosh, some European countries do mix their own language with English, too, like Slovak or German. It’s not only the Filipinos who do that.

12. Our diet is meat and rice. True. Because we don’t excessively get fat. Most of us have good metabolism that no matter how many cupful of rice or meats we eat, we don’t get fat like those obnoxious stupid American racists like you. I’m not fat for the record.

13. And of course, we are proud to have Spanish blood. You’re so jealous. But I don’t mean to say that we’re not proud of our Filipino blood. FYI, we are the mix blood of both western and eastern countries (Japanese, Spanish, American) That’s what makes Filipinos, with the exceptionality of the Filipina charm, special people.

You truly have no idea about the history of the Philippines. We’re not enslaved by the Spaniards for “3000” years. You better do your researching first before discriminating our race.

And all our ancestors looked like monkeys before, even your ancestor, douche bag. I suggest you read The Theory of Evolution since you are so stupid. AND WE REALLY ARE SHORT, so as our neighboring countries.

And what the hell, don’t eat at KFC if you don’t like Fried Chicken served with rice. We have Fridays, Burger King, and Kenny Rogers. You can it there.

And our accents don’t matter as long as we speak your freaking language fluently. And at least we know to speak more than 1 language.

And we have dentists to treat our messed up teeth. Other Filipino qualities and achievements:
Qualities:
-hospitable
-charitable
-religious
-friendly
-proud
-talented
-smart
-best cooks
-somehow, corrupt(well, the government is)
-and so on.

Inventions & Discoveries:
Incubator
Water-Powered Car
Space Engineer
Fluorescent Lamp
Erythromycin

and so on. there are so many that it is an understatement to put it all here.

Any comment or violent reaction.

Eat Fruit to Cure Cancer, Stay Healthy and Lose Weight!

Dr Stephen Mak is a friend of mine at the BSF course. He told me he treats terminal ill cancer patients by "un-orthodox" way and many patients recovered. He explains to me before he is using solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients. He believes on natural healing in the body against illnesses. See the article below.

Dear Shereen,

Thanks for the email on fruits and juices. It is one of the strategies to heal cancer. As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%. Cancer patients shouldn't die. The cure for cancer is already found. It is whether you believe it or not? I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments.. .
Thanks and God bless.

EATING FRUIT...

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.
What is the correct way of eating fruits?
IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.
In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil....
So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!
Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.
There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.
When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.
But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!
KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.
APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.
STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.
ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.
WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.
GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.
Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

This is the best advice I've ever seen on eating fruit. Even if it isn't all factual or you don't believe in it, fruits and veges can help us be healthier, THAT'S a proven fact.
